The Margie Fowler scholarship will be awarded to students at the collegiate level who are pursuing a major or a minor in music in the specific fields of Music Education, Piano or Vocal Performance, or Pedagogy.

Margie was a Deer Lodge, MT, native and a long time piano teacher in Helena. She also taught in Deer Lodge, Missoula, and Billings, as well as being an NMTA National Fellow.

One scholarship of $600 will be awarded per year, only in the Spring, when there is an eligible student. That student needs to be nominated in a written letter of recommendation by his/her former teacher, who must be a current HMTA member; the letter is to be submitted to the scholarship committee. In addition the applicant must submit a recommendation letter from a current college professor. An application and audition video recording will be required.
